My name is Jenny Callaghan and I am a Recommended Associate Dog Listener, having completed Foundation and Advanced Canine Communication Courses with Jan Fennell. ~x~ I live in Kettering, Northamptonshire with my 2 retired racing greyhounds, Bruce and Bryony. Bruce's behaviour was a real challenge when he first came to live with me and I experienced several methods of "training" in those first few months but I believe that Amichien Bonding® (AB) is the only one that provides a permanent change, and without the need for gadgets or any kind of cruelty. Bruce is so much calmer and happier than he used to be. He still doesn't like to meet dogs he doesn't know but he now trusts me to deal with the situation rather than trying to deal with it himself. Bryony then joined the "pack" 2 years ago and settled in well. She's a timid girl who doesn't like loud noises but I help her with that. Dog Listeners aren't trying to create perfect dogs - each dog has their individual personality and quirks. It's far more important to manage everyday situations so that our dogs are happy, relaxed and content. You can see some photos of my dogs on the "Gallery" page, along with a picture of my previous greyhound Paddy, who died in November 2005. ~x~ To find out more about AB®, to discuss your dog's problems or to book an individual consultation in your home, please contact me. The cost of a consultation also includes as much help and advice as you need afterwards, with no time limit. There are no classes to attend - the consultation is geared to you, your dog(s) and your lifestyle. There are many dog behaviourists, dog trainers and dog listeners around and it can be confusing knowing how to choose someone to help you. Jan Fennell Dog Listeners (JFDLs) are closely monitored by Jan herself and there is a rigorous Quality Control system in place to ensure that our clients receive the best possible service. Alternatively, you may want to read Jan Fennell's book "The Dog Listener" first - borrow it from the library if you're not sure about buying it, or ask around your friends & family to see if they have a copy to lend to you. There's also a DVD of the same name. ~x~ All Dog Listeners are very much against cruel training gadgets, particularly the dreaded Shock Collar. It is often given other names to disguise the true nature of its purpose and sadly, it is still legal to sell them in this country. Although we understand the desperation that drives people to try gadgets such as these, we would rather show them another way to modify their dog's unwanted behaviour - whatever that behaviour is. We have all made mistakes with our own dogs in the past and that's how we discovered AB® ourselves. And having enjoyed its success, we decided to become Associate Dog Listeners so we can pass it on to other like-minded dog owners.
